Brown Smoky Neutral Eye look with the Urban Decay, Basics Pallet!

10:23 April Nicole Clark 0 Comments

Hey guys! As you saw from my previous first impressions post i've recently got the Urban Decay Naked Basics pallet! After testing out a few "everyday" looks i thought i'd do a proper eye-make up look with it and see how good it really is! I've got for a neutral eye-make up look that can be used for an everyday, or even from day-night if you're wanting too!
Hope you enjoy!

TADA! it's my first proper look that i've done just using the Naked pallet to give it a proper go so i can see how i feel about it, and it's made me love it even more!
All over my lid i'm wearing the colour "Naked 2". As i explained in my first impressions post (http://aprilnicoleclark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/urban-decay-naked-basics-pallet-first.html) it applies beautiful on the lid, even with a primer and it is still super pigmented.
In my crease i chose a bit of a darker brown to give it a "shadow", i chose the colour "faint" i blended that into my crease with a fluffy blending blush until i liked how it looked!
I applied the colour "Naked 2" under my eye as well (which sadly, isn't really showing up on camera, *sigh*).
I then used the lightest colour, which also has a slight shimmer in it, the colour "venus" i applied on the brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes to give it a bit of LIGHT.
If you're interested i'm wearing MAC lipstick in the colour "cockney".

TADA! So, this is my first go at using the naked pallet for a full eye look, what do you guys think? I feel like this look could go from day-night just by adding a bit of lippy, just like a did, to give it a bit more VOOM! If you want to keep it neutral then apply a nude lipstick or lip gloss, or even just a tinted chapstick to give you lips a little something extra too!

Hope you guys liked this short post! Let me know what you think of this look? I'll try and do a few more looks using this pallet as it can definitely be used for more intense looks too!

Urban Decay Naked: Basics Pallet- First Impression & Swatches!

11:04 April Nicole Clark 0 Comments

Hey guys! Something a little different on my blog this time, a first impressions post! I've recently bought the Urban Decay Naked Basics pallet (the naked two isn't available in the UK just yet) and instead of waiting and doing a review, i'd tell you guys what i thought of it for the first time! I've never used Urban Decay products before so this is a first impressions of the pallet, as well as first impressions of Urban Decay.
Enjoy!

Faint.

Naked 2

Crave
(Sorry, they were the only colours i could properly swatch, the others came out too light on camera!)

Now, everyone knows of the Naked pallets by Urban Decay and they're highly raved about, so i was expecting big things! I thought i'd first try out the basics pallet as i wasn't brave enough (yet) to go for the full Naked pallets, but so far, i'm enjoying the basics one.
The colours are really neutral so i'll get a lot of everyday wear out of this, but what's good about it, is you can "dress them up" for a more night time look as well. It's mostly matte colours and a couple of satin colours as well. The matte colours are great for the lid and for the crease as well, the shimmer/satin colours are good for the highlighting the brow bone or the cheek bone etc. They're really pigmented, i haven't yet tried it with a primer but i've heard Urban Decay do some really good primers for their shadows, so that might be my next investment!
These shadows apply really well on the lid, they don't crease up, they blend out really easily as well so you don't need to spend to long blending out your eye shadow.
In terms of price, this isn't the cheapest pallet ever it's £22 from most places, i ordered mine from feelunique.com. So if you're tight on budget i maybe would hold off for a while before purchasing a Naked pallet, but they're worth the money if you want to splurge on yourself a little! If you're still a little unsure on buying a Naked pallet go to an Urban Decay stand and give a few of them a swatch, see what you think, but i think if you're willing to treat yourself they're a good first pallet!
Overall, i'm impressed with my first Naked pallet and i will probably be purchasing the bigger ones when i've gotten my use out of this lovely pallet first!
Any of you guys had a Naked pallet before, what did you think? If you've never had one, are you considering getting one? Let me know!
Thanks!

My autumn/winter make-up picks!

11:05 April Nicole Clark 0 Comments

Hey guys! As autumn is on it's way and everything starts to get colder and a little gloomier, an upside to all this is it's the start of the autumn/winter make-up! Nothing cheers you up on a cold and gloomy day like a beautiful fall coloured lipstick, or a new foundation!
So i've put together some of my favourite autumn/winter make-up picks that i think would be perfect for the colder months.
Enjoy!

Now of course when the winter months come around you'll be needing some autumn lipsticks; you can't go round wearing your signature bright pink lippy on a cold October day! So these are my three favourites!
Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick, in the colour 107. To start with, i LOVE these lipsticks in any season, they apply beautifully on the lips, they're to pigmented and for the price you can't get a better drug store lipstick! (in my humble opinion...)
The 107 is one of my favourite colours for the winter months, it's a deep red and it goes perfect with the darker autumn clothes as well. During the autumn months most colours are deep reds, maroons, greens and brown shades and this shade of lipsticks goes with it!

Next is a high end lipstick the MAC lipstick in the colour "cockney". MAC lipsticks are always a winner if you're willing to spend a little extra. They do beautiful red colours which are perfect for this season, if you're not one to go for quite a "vibrant" lipstick then they do beautiful winter nudes as well. The "cockney" lipstick i LOVE is a lovely red colour which is a little more vibrant than the Rimmel lipstick but it gives your make-up a definite POP on a gloomy morning!
The picture doesn't really do it justice, but if you're interested swatch it at a MAC you'll love it!

And my finally pick is a lip-gloss rather than a lipstick and i'm sure you've all heard of this lady, Tanya Burr's lip-glosses, i've chosen the colour "vampire kiss"! This again is a vibrant red colour again but this has definitely got more of a sheen to it which makes your lips look more vibrant! I know lip-glosses are not everyone's cup of tea but if you try one of these, it might just change your mind. They apply really easily on the lips, they're not overly sticky and they're super-duber pigmented! It's a win, win (win).

Now for eye-shadows, you can't have beautiful autumn lips without the eye make-up to match! I've picked my favourite eye-shadows (for any time of the year) and the colours that i think will be great for this time of year.

First, is the Maybelline colour tattoo 24hr shadows in the colours, metallic pomegranate and on-and-on bronze! Metallic pomegranate is a dark purple-y colour and the on-and-on bronze is a brown neutral colour, which would go well with the brighter lipsticks! If you're wanting to use the pomegrante colour then i'd go for a more neutral lip as this eye-shadow colour is quite vibrant, but still very very pretty on the lid! These shadows are quite similar to the MAC paint pots, they apply like a cream but can be blended out for a smoky effect.

My other pick is the No7 eye-shadow duo in the colour "iridescent purple". This duo set goes perfectly together for a late night smoky effect, for when you're wanting to make a statement on a night. The lighter pink colour is also perfect on it's own for a neutral everyday look too, so this little set is pretty versatile kit. For drug store make-up it's a little on the pricey side but what's good about No7 products is they will colour match you, for foundation and they can choose your colours around that too, so it's good to pop down and get your colour matched, they're in all Boots stores.
I've also chosen my blush picks for the upcoming season because just like lipsticks and eye-shadows, blush can change depending on the season too; for winter you're wanting something a little softer, darker, to give you that "flush" after you've just come in from being out in the snow. Blushes are a good way of making you look rosey and awake during the colder seasons! So here are my picks!
Firstly, i've mentioned this in a post before is the Sleek blush in the colour pixie pink. This i've mentioned before in a favourites from a few months ago, but i still haven't even hit pan on this yet! Sleek products are so pigmented and such good value for money that you can't really get a better drug store blusher if you're on a budget! The pixie pink colour is a darker pinky colour which, when applied gives you that "flushed" look.
Next, is another blusher that i've been using for most of the year BUT it is a perfect winter blush. The Soap and Glory love at first blush. This is a lovely bright blush, but it gives such a lovely highlight as well which is always a good thing to have whether it be in the summer or the winter.

There you go! Just a few of my winter picks, hope you've enjoyed!
Let me know your picks for winter! Do you like the winter make-up? Or do you prefer the bright summery colours instead? Let me know!

Dior Skin, Nude- Review!

06:19 April Nicole Clark 0 Comments

Hey guys! I haven't done a review in a long while so i thought since i've been trying out a few different things recently, it was time for a review! This time i'm doing a review of the Dior Skin, Nude foundation! I bought this recently while in Paris and i've been trying it out for the past few weeks, so it's time for a review!
Enjoy!
*DISCLAIMER* i'm not claiming to know a lot about make-up and what i say about this product is not a professional review! This is just my personal view on this product, so just don't take this too seriously

Firstly, price. I bought mine while i was in Paris and i had some spare euros left and i paid €38 and the price in the UK is £32 from Boots (i'm not sure about prices from anywhere else). So it's not the cheapest of foundations but if you're willing to splurge then i'd go for it! It's available from most beauty stores, and other websites such as feelunique.com (fyi it's free shipping over £10!)
The packaging is just gorgeous too! The box is so elegant and the bottle is just to classy as you'd expect from any Dior product!
Seriously, look at this, it's beautiful! As you can see it doesn't look like i've actually used any but that's just how this foundation works, you barely need any of it to make a difference!

I have the colour 010 Ivory. The coverage of
this foundation is a medium-full coverage and you don't need a lot to make a big difference which is great if you're wanting to get your money's worth out of it. The foundation goes on really well, with and without a primer and it has a silky feeling, which i love! If you've got a lot of redness or any blemishes this foundation is really good for that, as it was a silky finish so it doesn't look too matte but at the same time giving a full coverage look. However, you still will need the odd bit of concealer here and there, under the eyes, any larger blemishes for example, but that's a given for most foundations, even high end. This foundation also has SPF 15 in it as well so it's good for the summer as well, and it's always good to have a little bit of SPF in a foundation anyway.

Here is a photo of the foundation on my face (obviously... and i apologise for my awkward "make-up face")
My other make-up is: i have done my eye-brows with Soap and Glory archery brow pen, on my eyes is the MAC paint pot in the colour chilled on ice, which is a beautiful champagne colour, L'oreal so couture eye liner, i've contoured with the Bourjois chocolate bronzer, blush is Soap and Glory love at first blush and on my lips is Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in the colour 107

TADA! Here is my face with my full face of make-up on! This foundation is even good on camera which i also love, it's nice to have a foundation that doesn't totally "wash you out" when taking photos. Now, i'm aware that i'm pretty darn pale so the camera doesn't totally do the foundation justice, but trust me!

Overall, i love this foundation, for the price i think you will definitely get your money's worth out of it if you're willing to splurge just a bit, or even ask for it for christmas or a birthday! £32 is not too pricey for a Dior foundation and a darn good at that, so go on! If you're one that doesn't particularly like a full coverage foundation possible a BB cream or a light coverage foundation might be more up your street rather than something like this.
But if you're willing to splurge a little this foundation is a must, it will last you a long time, you get a full coverage and it applies beautifully!

Hope you enjoyed this blog post! Have you tried this foundation, did you like it? If not, will you be purchasing it? If you didn't like it, tell me why!
Thanks!

My recent beauty favourites!

08:52 April Nicole Clark 0 Comments

Hey guys! Since i didn't do a July favourites i thought instead of just doing a "September favourites" i'd do my recent favourites! So there's a bit of everything from the past two months that i've really be loving!
Enjoy!

Firstly, i've jumped on the band wagon for the new Kim Kardashian hollywood game, and i'm now obsessed. If you don't know what it is, then, where have you been? Basically, you're a shop worker in Hollywood working your way up to become an A-list celebrity with the help of none other than, Kim K! I can't explain why it's so addictive, but once you download it, you'll understand...

Next is something that i've only recently picked up but i love it already! It's the MAC lipstick in the colour cockney, it's a beautiful deep red colour. It's so pigmented and applies beautifully on the lips, i love it! I bought it when i was waiting around in St. Pancras after coming back from Paris; it's dangerous having two hours to kill where there is a make-up shop. It's my first MAC lipstick and now i know why everybody raves about them, they're great! I know they're not the cheapest of products to buy, but if you fancy a splurge go for one of these!

Now, as much as you all don't want to think about it but, winter is on it's way, but don't despair, it means that it's time for everything that's fab about the cold weather; cosy jumpers, hot drinks, candles, sitting by the fire place and of course CHRISTMAS (i know it's only September, BUT there's only 15 more Fridays until it'll be here!) So i've started slowing buying some new clothes and make-up bits of the winter and one of my favourites so far is my new green jumper from New Look! It's super cosy and super comfy, the colour is great for winter and it'll go with lots of different things, leggings, jeans, i just love it!
New Look are selling these at £14.99 and they do a variety of different colours but i think the green is most suited for the colder months.

As it gets colder it takes effect on your skin, your skin begins to get drier so you need to take care of it more during the winter; just the little things like a thicker moisturiser, exfoliating and remembering to remove your make-up every night (i know we're all guilty of not doing this...) I've invested in the Origins exfoliating face wash which smells AMAZING. It's a light exfoliator which you can use on an everyday, it smells like oranges and it's so refreshing and will definitely wake you up on cold winter mornings!

Another favourite of mine which doesn't really have anything to do with winter is my new Little Mermaid, make up bag! If you saw my "Everyday Make up Bag" post then you would have already seen it, but it has to be a favourite of mine for this month. Not much i can really say about a make-up bag other than that it holds all my everyday make-up and it looks beautiful and i love the Little Mermaid so this is pretty much perfect for me!

Finally, my definite absolute favourite of last month and probably will be for the new few months was my trip to Paris with my boyfriend! (OH, how very cliché) It was the most amazing four days, i made a full post here: http://aprilnicoleclark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/my-trip-to-paris.html but i'll briefly talk about it here. It was just so nice to get away for a few days just the two of us, the weather was great, we had such a laugh, and i really enjoyed just being able to chill out and have a good time! I was so sad when it was over, but i'm definitely going to start planning another holiday for next year...

Anyway, hope you've enjoyed this little favourites "update" post! I'll try to keep up with the favourites from now on! Let me know what your favourites have been this month and any from previous months? ALSO are you as obsessed with the Kim K game as me? It's getting a little worrying...

What's in my everyday make-up bag!

12:02 April Nicole Clark 0 Comments

Hey guys! My make-up bag changes pretty much all the time depending on what type of products i'm using at the time, so i thought i'd show you what i use as an "everyday" make-up bag. Now, since i was away last week and i'm going to Paris on Saturday i've still got my make-up in a travel bag, so it's not the prettiest!
Enjoy!
(P.S i apologise for the photos not being very good, we're having our whole house redecorated and the only place where i can take photos is my window ledge! Sorry! It'll go back to normal when the my room is all painted!)

Firstly, my make-up bag that i've only had for a little bit but i adore it! If you know me, then you know that my absolute favourite disney princess and my favourite film EVER is the Little Mermaid and when i saw this i couldn't really restrain from buying it...

ISN'T IT AMAZING?! I'm aware it's probably not a bag meant for make-up (or an eighteen year old) but i love it regardless!

Ok, for my everyday foundation/concealer changes a lot of the time whenever they run out, i like to try something different, so this is just what i'm using at the time. The L'oreal Paris true match in the shade rose ivory and my concealer i haven't changed in months, i just keep buying the same one over and over cos i LOVE it, the Collection lasting perfection concealer in the colour 01 fair. I rave about this concealer and i know a lot of other people do, it's great for under-eye circles and it covers blemishes and redness, and it's super cheap too.

As for powders my standards are these three! I have heard everyone rave about the Bourjois chocolate bronzer and rightly so because it's so lovely (and smells pretty amazing too). The Rimmel stay matte powder should just be a staple in every girl's make-up bag, it's just the best! Then we get to my favourite blush in the world, the Soap and Glory love at first blush! It's B-E-A-UTIFUL and it's so pigmented and has a slight glisten to it which is perfect for a highlight as well.

Finally, we have my eye make-up items! I've started using the MAC paint pots after i wanted something a little different, but quite subltle for everyday and i feel in love with these! I've heard good things about the paint pots and they didn't disappoint. I chose the shade chilled on ice and it's a beautiful champagne colour with a slight shimmer which i love, so i can use it on an everyday and also it would be a great for a night out too! Definitely recommend!
For eye-liner i sometimes don't really fancy wearing black eye-liner for an everyday, so i decided to go for a brown pencil eye-liner as an everyday. It just gives you eyes a little extra something instead of just wearing mascara, but at the same time it's not too overpowering for an everyday look. BUT at the same time i do like to wear a bit of black liner depending on what my "everyday" quest is going to be! I've recently got this L'oreal super liner so couture, oh la la! For an everyday black liner look it's super good, it's got a thin nib so you can get just a slight black line across the eye lid for an everyday boost! So yes, i am enjoying using it!
And, finally, my mascara. I'm not too picky with mascaras i usually just buy whichever one looks "good" but i do enjoy the Maybelline mascaras as they don't clump and give a nice bit of volume for going out, as well as everyday look too!

AND DONE. I know for an everyday it's not a huge amount of make-up to wear, but it suits me! I love doing my make-up to go out and getting ready is actually one of my favourite things to do (that sounds quite sad...) but when it comes to everyday, i like to keep it pretty minimal.
So i hope you've enjoyed a little insight into my everyday wear, i know it's not too exciting but if you're as nosey as me hopefully, you'll enjoy posts like this!
Thanks!

My trip to Paris!

14:56 April Nicole Clark 0 Comments

Hey guys! So, if you didn't know last Saturday me and my boyfriend Brian went on a short trip to Paris! It was the most perfect little getaway for us and i loved every minute of it, even just being away for a few days.
We stayed in a cute little hotel in Montmartre which is right near the Moulin Rouge, there was loads of little shops (and some OTHER shops too...) and it was so pretty to go walk around! We were fifteen minutes from the Sacre Coeur which is a where a beautiful church is, the Basillica and the view is amazing!
Anyway, i won't ramble on about what we did and where we went, i've got a few pictures here which should show you pretty much what we did
Hope you enjoy!

Photos from the Lourve museum! (Fun Fact: if you're under 26 and a member of the EU you get in for free! Not bad saving yourself 20 euros!

(I swear this was hogwarts, but i can't read french so i've no idea what it was!)

We sat in a park and ate these amazing macaroons! From top to bottom it was, strawberry candy, vanilla, gingerbread, pistachio, rose petal and coffee! YUM!

The photos from the second floor of the Eiffiel Tower were taking by Brian, as i was too scared to even go outside! But aren't they pretty?!

How cute is this little cafe in Montmartre!? We found this after we went for a wander on our last day, we both tried white radish soup, which was surprisingly nice!

Well, i hope you enjoyed this! It was just a little insight into my holiday as i loved it so much i had to share it with you guys! Have you ever been to Paris, did you like it? Would you like to go?
Let me know!
Thanks!
