A day in the sun!

Hey guys! Since the weather where i live has been pretty lovely recently, i thought i'd take the opportunity to out for a walk with my camera! I went for a walk not far from where i live, went down to the river and took some photos and enjoyed the sunshine.
Here are some photos, hope you enjoy!

Well, there you go! Not the most exciting of posts, or the one that involves a lot of reading, but i hope you've enjoyed having a nosey!
This weather has been so lovely recently it's made me want to go out with my camera more often, so they'll probably be some more of these sorts of posts until the end of the summer, so hope you enjoy!
Thanks!

*UPDATED* My skin care routine! & Natural make-up look!

Hey guys! Bit of a different post this time. I've updated my skin care routine and thought you'd like to know what i'm now doing differently and i've decided to show you a natural make-up look! Now, i've never really done anything like this before so be nice (please) but i thought i'd give it a go. Let me know if you like it?
Hope you enjoy!

Firstly, my updated skin care routine! First of all, i'll show you my morning routine, as my night and day routines are slightly different. On a morning i'll get up and wash my face with a hot wash cloth, and apply my Simple triple action face wash. Now this face wash does smell a little funny as it has zinc and camomile in it, but it feels lovely on the skin and makes you feel so fresh when you're trying to wake-up yourself on a morning! It prevents stops and makes me skin feel really soft, if you've got sensitive skin like me then i would suggest using Simple products, they have barely anything in and feel great on the skin.

I'll then use my Garnier sensitive skin toner to tone my skin. I mentioned this on my June Favourites post, so i won't go into too much detail. But here's the link if you want to know more! (http://aprilnicoleclark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/june-favourites.html)

Finally, i will then apply my moisturiser/primer, which is still the same it is the Nivea moisture prime. I love this stuff! It goes on so lovely on the skin, it's great for people with sensitive skin and if you're lazy when it comes to primers (like me) if can all be done in one step! It makes your make-up last a lot longer and it makes your pores look almost invisible when applied!

Next, we have my night time skin care routine! This is just taking off my make-up on an evening, sometimes doing a face mask as well, just a way to chill out after a long day and give my face a breather.
I'll firstly take off all my make-up using my Garnier micellar cleansing water, i usually use more than one cotton pad for this to get all my make-up off. I'll use one for my foundation, another two for my eye make-up and then i final once over all over my face to get it all off. I've only recently started using the micellar water as it's a lot lighter than the cleansing lotion i used before, it's perfect for cooling you down in summer as well! (Again, i go into more detail on my June Favourites post ^^)
I'll then tone my face using the Garnier softening toner. One pad all over my face, avoiding the delicate eye zone as this stings, a lot.
Finally, i use quite a heavy moisturiser on a night as i want my face to have a good cleanse and moisturise after a long day. The moisturiser i use is the Benefit total moisture moisturising cream. It's quite a thick moisturiser so if you have oily skin then i wouldn't recommend it, i'd recommend the Simple light moisturiser, it's not as oily and it makes you feel all fresh faced! But since i have quite dry skin i like to use a thicker moisturiser to help with that.

Now, on to the natural make-up look. This is something different that i've never tried on my blog before, so i'm aware it won't be perfect but i thought it would be good to start off with and maybe do a few more, if you guys like it!
First, here is the make-up and the brushes that i used. I've marked on what i used them for, but i tell you what type of brushes they are too and what their actually uses are... (i never really use brushes for what they say they're suppose to be before.)

From left to right. Real Techniques contour brush, the foundation brush and the eye-shadow brushes were both in the same set i ordered from Amazon which i can't remember the name of, sorry! Avon powder brush, and the brushes on the end are both No7 blush brushes.
So, as you can tell i don't really use the brushes for what they're suppose to, i just use what's best for me!
Next is the make-up that i used!

In order from left to right. Rimmel match perfection foundation in the colour ivory, Collection concealer in the colour fair 1, Soap and Glory brow archery, NYC eye-shadow set but the name is rubbed off and i can't remember the name, sorry! Rimmel stay matte powder in the colour 001 transparent, Soap and Glory love at first blush, Bourjois bronzer and finally Tanya Burr lipgloss in the colour afternoon tea.

The make-up look is pretty simple even though it seems there's a lot to it, but it's really basic and great for those hot summer days when you can't really be bothered with a lot of make-up.
(I apologise for the really bad photos!)

I start off by applying my concealer under my eyes as i have quite bad under eye circles, sadly... But the collection concealer is perfect for under eye circles and blemishes and i'll then apply my foundation afterwards. I'll do my eye-brows afterwards and then start on my eye-shadow. For a base i'll use the lighter colour as the base and a darker brown colour in the crease to create a shadow. This eye shadow is very neutral if you're not the type to go mad with eye-shadow and it's a good start up point if you're wanting to start using eye-shadows, afterwards i'll apply my mascara.
I then apply my Rimmel powder all over my face to set the foundation, i have dry patches on my cheeks to i limit the amount of powder there and focus more powdering my t-zone as they are the more oily areas of the face. I'll use a small amount of bronzer in the cheek bones to contour my face and give my face a bit of colour, and i'll apply my blush to the apples of my cheeks! Finally, i'll apply the light pink lip gloss as i finish!
TADA! (it's nothing spectacular i know...)

Hope you enjoyed this bit different post! Let me know if you liked it and i'll do more!
Hope you like the make-up look and let me know if you'll give it a try too? It's casually easy and if you're lazy with make-up, like me, then this is a good look for you!
Thanks!

My dressing table!

Hey guys! Quite a spur of the moment blog post but i thought i'd show a little more "about me" and show you my dressing table! I try and decorate my room to express me, or things that i like really, so i hope you enjoy!

Okay, this is my "dressing table" sort of? It's basically a table built into the wall, but may as well put it to use and make it look pretty! Firstly, there is usually a mirror in the middle but i got rid of it for when i took the photo. I don't like to clutter it up too much so i've tried to keep it minimal but at the same time trying to make it look nice as well!

Firstly, we've got my jar of nail varnishes! I wanted a cute way to store my nail varnishes since i have so many of them (this is just one jar, i still have another bag full...) Get a cheap jar and just fill it up to the brim with nail varnishes (ah, so pintrest!) and it looks really and it's a great little piece to have on your dressing table, or even just a nice way to store them in your cupboard.

Next you've got my make-up brushes! This is actually a tea-light holder from tesco but i thought it would be perfect to store my brushes! (i'll probably use it for tea-lights soon enough...) It's suppose to be an owl and it fits all of my make-up brushes in really snug and it makes it easy access for getting ready and it just looks super cute! Store your make-up brushes doesn't have to be in a candle holder though, you can even use a jar like what i store my nail varnishes in and use that too! Or just use a pen/pencil holder, it'll all hold them really well!

Finally, we have a picture of me and Brian (see, i give you a name Bri!) I'm aware it's such a silly photo and yes we did have a little to drink when it was taken (don't sue me.. we are both 18.) But it makes me giggle every time i see it and it just makes me laugh, so i couldn't help but framing it! The yankee candle i got as a present from my parents for my birthday and it's grapefruit! It smells so summery and so fresh and i love it!

So, that was a quick post! I thought i'd update you guys and give you a little insight into me too! If you liked this, let me know? I also have a shelf of "nik-naks" that i could show you too, or even my pin board with all my photos on, tickets lots of things that are special to me! Let me know if you want more posts like this? Thanks!

June Favourites!

Hey guys! Back with another favourites for the month of June! Bit of a mix this month but i hope that makes it a little more interesting for you to read, hope you guys enjoy!

Soap and Glory no clogs allowed, deep purifying cleanse mask. I'm quite awkward when it comes to face masks as i have quite sensitive skin and usually face masks do the complete opposite to my skin and break me out! BUT this soap and glory mask is amazing! It's self-heating mask you live on for 5 minutes or so and you wipe it off with a warm wash cloth, it's so good! It really cleanses your skin and makes you feel so fresh afterwards. It's a little pricey but it's cheaper than some more high-end products and it does the same job!
It's for normal to dry skin, so maybe if you're oily it might not be best but with face-masks they all differ with skin types.

Next, is the Garnier micellar water. Before i started using this i used the Simple cleansing lotion and their toner as well, i made a post about my skin care on here (http://aprilnicoleclark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/my-night-time-skin-care-routine.html). But i decided to give micellar water a try as i've heard good things about it and i found this Garnier one and i've been loving it! It really feels like it properly cleanses and refreshes your face after removing your make-up, it's not at all oily and you just apply a small amount to a cotton wool pad and wipe over your face, it feels so fresh and clean! I use this with the Garnier toner and a Benefit moisturiser.

Then we have my Mac studio sculpt foundation in NW15 (because i am casper the friendly ghost..) I bought this quite a while ago but i never really used it as i when it was first applied i didn't like the texture, it was to "oily" for me, but i tried it a few weeks ago and i loved it! I don't use it as everyday wear i only use it if i'm going out somewhere, or i've got a long day as it does last quite a long time. It has a really good coverage and you don't need a lot as it blends really easily onto the skin. I wouldn't recommend it to oily skin though as it will probably not suit your skin type very well, as i have quite dry skin then it works okay with me.

Another piece of make-up i've been loving is the Bourjois chocolate bronzer. Now, most people have raved over this product for so long now and me, no surprise, was one of the last to give it a try.. and i love it. It's so pigmented and applies so nicely on the skin and it smells amazing! (I know it's not something you look for in make-up, but it's still a nice extra!) It's not expensive and it's just as good as some high-end bronzer's!

Now i have a favourite hair product too, the VO5 plump it up mousse! I tried the V05 smoothly does it mousse and i made a post about it in my February favourites a while back (http://aprilnicoleclark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/february-favourites.html) and i loved that, so i thought i'd try the plump it up mousse too. I think i prefer this to the smoothly does it mousse, this gives a lot more volume and it makes my hair feel thicker as well, even when i straighten it afterwards.

And my final favourite of the month is another Soap and Glory product one of their blushes, "Love at first blush". I've been dying to get this for so long but any time that i went shopping it was always sold out, but now i finally have it and i love it! It's a shimmery pink blus and it gives you a great highlight on the cheek bones as well which i love. It's so pigmented too, you don't need to apply a lot just a "dusting" over the cheeks and it'll give a healthy glow, which i love for summer. It's quite similar to the estee lauder blush (which i can't remember the name of, sorry guys! but i think it's discontinued now *wah*).

Well, that's it! There were my June favourites! I can't believe it's July already, this year is going to quickly it's mad. This month is Brian's birthday as well, so i'm looking forward to that very much! (Make sure you all wish him happy birthday, July 17th..)
Anyway, hope you've enjoyed this months favourites. Let me know what your favourites are for this month!

"Why are you so skinny?"

Hey guys, i know i haven't posted on here in a while, i've had a bit of a mind block on what to post! I saw a video that Zoella and Louise did from a while back just called, "Why are you so skinny?" they basically covered about body image and the thoughts towards more "skinnier" people etc. So, i thought i'd give my thoughts on it too!
Enjoy!
*DISCLAIMER* i am not trying to "copy" Zoe and Louise, i'm simple giving my own opinions on the subject. Also, i'm not in anyway trying to offend anyone!

Now, i have had to deal with the whole "why are you so skinny?" "have you eaten?" "are you anorexic?" and the many other ridiculous questions that surround skinnier people. If you switch that round to commenting on larger people's weight, for example, "why are you so big?" then it's just rude and horrible to even think of saying that to someone, so why is it okay to say it to someone skinny? 90% of people are unhappy with their bodies whether they are larger or skinnier and it's not pleasant when someone points out those insecurities, it makes you feel so small.

I am quite a thin person, i have a fast metabolism and i'm also quite tall this leads to me being quite skinny no matter how much i try and put on weight, it's just my body shape (i had a figure, it would most likely be 1, rather than an 8!) and i've come to accept that. I'll dress appropriately to suit my body type, accentuate parts of me that i like and it's now made me a lot happier with my body type! Now, what i don't enjoy is people picking on the fact that i'm skinny, telling me i need to eat, asking me if i'm anorexic etc, it's just rude. Not everyone can accept the body type they have and it may take time for them to come to terms with it, so what they do not need is someone else pointing out to them what they are clearly already aware of!

I don't want this to turn in to a rant, and i don't want to offend anyone or hurt anyone i'm just trying to get my point across on how words can affect people, whether you mean to or not. You may think you're complimenting that person by saying they're skinny or, saying you wish you were as skinny as them etc etc. but it may not come across that way.

Anyway, i'm not going to make this a long post and like i said, i don't want it to turn in a rant i'm simply trying to put a point across. I've had to deal with the inane and sometimes hurtful questions about how i look, so i thought that this was the best way i can truly express how i feel about it.
I promise to make a more cheerful post soon!
But i appreciate you for reading and maybe you can relate to this? Or are you one to ask these questions? Either way, let me know!

My favourite drugstore lip products!

Hey guys! Back with any blog post, this time on my favourite drug store lip products! I've only recently started wearing stuff on my lips as before i was really self-conscious and didn't like wearing anything... Now, i've come out my comfort zone a bit and these are a few of my favourites that i've been loving at the moment!
Enjoy!
(Not in any particular order either!)

Bourjois colour boost lipsticks! I have a few of these and i love love love them! They claim to last 10 hours and be waterproof, now, they don't last that long admittedly but the do last a really long time during quite a busy day! I have a couple of them but my favourite colour is 01 red sunrise, it's a deep pink colour which is really lovely for summer time! I also have quite dry lips and these don't dry out your lips at all, which is also great for using these in the winter months too.

Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks! These were actually the first lipsticks i bought when i was feeling a little more daring with lip colours! They last a really long time they're not expensive at all and they've got such a huge range of colours, they're perfect for first time lipstick wearers!

Revlon lip butter! I was introduced to these by a few other bloggers as most had raved about them so i had to try them out! I went and bought the colour candy apple and i loved it, so much so i went out and bought a few more! They're very hydrating which is great if you're one for dry lips (like me!), they're still really pigmented and last a long time too, which is great. They are on more the pricey-side of the drugstore lip products but they're so worth it, and they're nearly always on some form of offer on boots, so why not!

Tanya Burr lip glosses! If you're a fan of Tanya then you'll already know of how great these are, if not then let me enlighten you! Well, firstly, if you don't know who she is then where have you been, she's a blogger and a youtuber and she's recently come out with her own line of lip glosses and nail varnishes (go Tanya!). Since i'm a big fan of hers i had to try them out so i went out and bought her lip gloss in the colour vampire kiss and i loved it! They're super pigmented and lovely to wear, i usually don't enjoy lip glosses as they can be quite sticky but these i love. They're sold in most local superdrugs so i'd definitely suggest picking them up if you see them!

There you go! Hope you enjoyed! Have you tried any of these before, like or dislike? Let me know!

May Favourites!

Hey guys! I can't believe it's already June, i don't even know where this year as gone, it's crazy! But what another month gone does mean it's now time for a favourites post, my May favourites! May was a good month for trying new products as it was my birthday so i got to try new birthday gifts and it also meant i got some money, so i could go out and buy new products to try (yay!). (I apologise for the odd picture quality, i took the photos at night so i had to use my flash!)
Hope you enjoy!

My first favourite is my new brushes from Amazon! Now, i don't even know the brand of these make-up brushes, they were sort of an impulse buy when i really needed a new set, but i love them! They came in a pack with a couple of foundation brushes (one i gave to my mother) one i've been using to contour and another i've used for blush, along with a few eye-shadow brushes. They were only £12 and they were a complete steal, they look good and i'm glad i bought them! (Here's a link if you want to have a look too! http://www.amazon.co.uk/XCSOURCE%C2%AE-Professional-Concealer-Eyeshadow-Foundation/dp/B00JR2NKHC/ref=sr_1_57?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1401740460&sr=1-57&keywords=make+up+brushes

Next, is something i got my birthday. If you know me then you know i have a big thing for candles, i own way too many.. BUT my parents still decided to buy me one for my birthday, the Yankee Candle Grapefruit! I have a lot of "christmass-y" scented candles as i collected rather a lot over the holidays, so it was nice to get a summery, fruity candle for the spring and summer! I love to light it when i'm just chilling in my room, or even while i'm having a bath, it's such a light scent that it makes your room smell lovely and summery! I'm not sure of the price as it was a birthday present but if you're a yankee candle fanatic then i'm sure you'll know anyway!

My third favourite is a new lip product that i've been wanting to try for a long time. I've heard Zoella and Tanya Burr talk about these but i wanted to wait for summer to try out all of their colour! The Bourjois colour boost lip sticks, my favourite is the colour is 01 red sunrise, it's a gorgeous berry red colour that's perfect for summer time! These lip products are moisturising, they're super pigmented and go on really lovely, they're easy to blend if you want a subtle look. They claim to last ten hours and claim to be water proof too, now i don't believe they will last that long, but they do last a really long time regardless!

Next, is my Soap and Glory brow archery eyebrow pencil/felt tip. Again, i'd heard Zoella mention this on her monthly favourites and decided to give it a try too, it did not disappoint, i loved it! On one end is a felt tip and on the other is like a wax so you can use either end to fill in your brows, i use both, i use the felt tip to fill them in, then i use the wax just to brush through them afterwards. I always struggle to find a decent eyebrow product that will work for me but now i've found this i don't want to change to anything else! Highly recommend!

Total moisture by Benefit! I got this in a set for my birthday along with a few other cleansing bits and this is by far my favourite! I only got the little tub but i'll most certainly be getting the larger one! This moisturiser is quite thick so you don't need a lot and it feels lovely on the skin, it makes my skin feel so soft and i love applying it before bed along with my other night time skin care! (I made a blog post on that, which i'll leave a link of here: http://aprilnicoleclark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/my-night-time-skin-care-routine.html)

Next is the Tanya Burr lip gloss in the colour vampire kiss! Now, before i tried these i used to hate lip gloss it's always so sticky and i can't never apply it properly and i much preferred to stick to lipsticks, but this has converted me! I'm a big fan of Tanya and her youtube videos so it felt right to try out at least one of her lip glosses and i loved it straight away! It glides on so easily, the colour lasts a long time, they're so pigmented and so overall so lovely to wear! I wore it at the GNAA ball (i made a post about that here: http://aprilnicoleclark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/gnaa-charity-ball-make-up-look-and.html) i didn't need to touch up during the night at all and it kept my lips moisturised as well.

Well, that's it! They are my favourite products for the month of May, hope you enjoyed!
Have you tried any of the products i've mentioned? Like or dislike? And what are YOUR May favourites? Let me know!
